In this short horror story, a daughter returns home to discover her mother has fallen prey to a dangerous predator she can't prove exists. Morality becomes a thing of the past as she endeavors to get along with an entity that kills to stay alive.
The first in a series of unforgettable short works, Daughter and the Snake looks at the nature of the human spirit to seek comfort—and where no comfort is possible, transformation.
A note from the author The imagery used in Daughter and the Snake is powerful and may not be easily forgotten. This short story is meant to entertain without leaving readers traumatized (for an unreasonable length of time). Sensitive readers are advised to proceed thoughtfully.

The story had my imagination on over drive. It was if I was the third person looking into anticipating the climatic parts of the story. The writing style was poetic, unique. Hearing the audio version of the story really brought everything to life. Can't wait to see more of TMD's workProduct details

Daughter and the Snake Bedtime Stories for the Intellectually Adventurous Book 1 edition by Maxximillian Dafoe Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This story is an excellent read. This author manages to provide such richness in her short story. Mark my words, you want to get to know T. Maxximillian's work now, so that you can say say you knew about her early writings before she was a world-renowned author. I'm certain she's headed in that direction. Can't wait to read more of her work!
Daughter and the Snake haunts me...I found my thoughts drifting back to it days later. It's a timeless tale, reads like a fable yet set in modern times. I can't help but imagine that this is the girl's coming of age story....we are so often thrust into adulthood & responsibility years before we are ready. Snakes have always intrigued and terrified me. They have often showed up in my dreams, so I've done a bit of reading up on the symbolism of the snake. When I saw this cover I couldn't look away...and I am pleased that I didn't. I invite you to read this short story aloud to a friend or a lover, or silently to yourself, and find yourself eerily captivated.
I really enjoyed this story with all its symbolism and deep meaning. It was short but the author did a good job at pacing the story.
Great story. Just the right amount of moody and creepy. Left me wanting to know more-as all good tales should.
T. Maxximillian is an artisan of word play. I could smell, taste and feel this symbolic tale she so well crafted. I look forward to seeing these beginning seeds to blossom in seasons to come with many books and novels to follow.
I wasn't sure what to expect since I'm afraid of reptiles but Dafoe pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat until I finished. Horrifying, yet well done.
While not the type of bedtime story I usually couple with, I enjoyed this short read for its unexpected turns and unique approach to describing the complex and mysterious relationship between mother and daughter. I relish in fiction for its flexibility to mold ideas in and out of our dominant perspective of reality. This story illustrates that breath of expansion beautifully, with ease, interest and wonderment. Already looking forward to Book 2.
The story had my imagination on over drive. It was if I was the third person looking into anticipating the climatic parts of the story. The writing style was poetic, unique. Hearing the audio version of the story really brought everything to life. Can't wait to see more of TMD's work
